It's 1930s Paris and Cornelius Rossini, with his brother Ignatius are there to visit the cellar Cornelius's wife died in during the Paris Commune, 60 years ago.
A few days later, Cornelius gets a visit from the police at his lover, Dastan's address. They want to question him over the murder of the current owner of the house and cellar.
